Creating a dashboard from a template

WeGive’s Reporting section includes ready-made dashboard templates that set up multiple saved queries and charts in one step. To use one:
  1. Navigate to Reporting > Dashboards.
  2. Click Use a template.
  3. Choose a template (e.g. “Giving overview” or “Recurring collections”).
  4. Select your date range, time zone, and visibility (private or organization-wide).
  5. Click Create dashboard.
The template creates a dashboard with several pre-configured saved queries and visualizations that you can customize afterward.

Available templates

  • Giving overview — Payment totals, volume, monthly trends for recurring and one-time giving, and a breakdown by payment method.
  • Recurring collections — Collected recurring payments, paying plan counts, average payment, and monthly collection trends.
Each template states how many saved queries it includes and describes the calculation methodology before you create it.

Date range options in templates

When creating a dashboard from a template, you can choose from three rolling-window date ranges:
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days
  • Last 365 days (default)
These windows roll forward automatically each time you view the dashboard, so “Last 365 days” always covers the most recent year of data from today.

Editing date ranges after creation

The template’s date range applies only at creation time. Once your dashboard is created, you can open any individual saved query and edit its date filters freely, including setting a specific start and end date (for example, January 1 through today for a year-to-date view).

Date ranges on other dashboard pages

Other pages in the dashboard offer a broader set of date range options, including calendar-based presets: If you need a Year to Date view, the Organization KPIs page provides it directly. For dashboard templates, create the dashboard with Last 365 days, then edit the query’s date filter to set January 1 of the current year as the start date.

Visibility and sharing

When creating a dashboard from a template, you choose its visibility:
  • Only me — only you can see the dashboard and its queries.
  • My organization — anyone in your organization can view the dashboard and its queries.
You can change this setting later by editing the dashboard.
