Viewing the Portal as a Supporter (Staff Impersonation)
If you need to see exactly what a donor sees — for example, while helping them over the phone — you can temporarily add yourself as a login:- Follow the Add a New Donor Portal Login steps above using your own name and phone number, but create a unique email using your email + the donor’s name (e.g., to access John Smith’s portal, [email protected] would enter [email protected]). If you use your plain email address and it’s already tied to your own supporter record, signing in will land you on your own record instead of the donor’s.
- Go to your organization’s Donor Portal and sign in with that email. Emails sent to the plus address still arrive in your inbox, so the verification code comes to you — the donor won’t receive any 2FA prompts.
- You’ll see the supporter’s portal view, including their giving history, recurring plans, and preferences. For security, you will not be able to see saved payment methods tied to the donor’s own login.
- When you’re finished, remove your login using the steps above. We recommend always removing your access once you’re done for data cleanliness.
