Overview
If you click a date in one of WeGive’s date pickers — for example, the
Payment Date field in the Virtual Terminal — and the field still shows
a “required” or validation error when you try to submit, the date
wasn’t actually saved. This happens because clicking a day in the
calendar only highlights it; it doesn’t save the selection to the
field.
Why this happens
WeGive’s date picker separates “picking” a date from “saving” it:
- Clicking a day in the calendar pop-up highlights that day, but does
not save it to the field yet.
- Clicking Apply at the bottom of the pop-up is the only action
that actually saves your selection to the field.
- Clicking anywhere outside the pop-up, or clicking Cancel, closes
the pop-up and discards whatever day you had highlighted — the field
reverts to whatever value it had before you opened the picker.
Because the highlighted day looks the same whether or not it’s been
applied, it’s easy to click a date, close the pop-up some other way,
and not notice the field never actually updated.
This can happen on any date field in WeGive that uses this picker —
most commonly the Payment Date field in the Virtual Terminal, but also
Start Date and End Date fields on scheduled exports and similar
screens.
How to fix it
- Click into the date field again to reopen the picker.
- Select the date you want.
- Click Apply at the bottom of the pop-up before doing anything
else.
Once you click Apply, the field updates and the validation error
clears. Clicking outside the pop-up or clicking Cancel will discard the
selection again, so Apply has to be the last thing you click before
moving on.
