# Fixing "Please ensure all card and billing information is complete and correct" When Adding a Card

> What to check when WeGive's donation checkout or add-card form shows the billing-information error, and how to clear it.

## Overview

When adding a new card during checkout or in your donor portal, you may
see this error after clicking to continue:

> Please ensure all card and billing information is complete and
> correct.

This message means one or more of the **billing details** fields (name,
street address, city, state/province, zip/postal code, or country)
didn't pass validation -- it does not mean there's a problem with your
card number, expiration date, or CVV, which are checked separately.

## How to fix it

1. **Re-enter the billing fields one at a time**, especially if your
browser auto-filled them. Autofill sometimes leaves a field looking
filled in but not actually registered by the form -- click into each
billing field (name, address, city, state/province, zip/postal code,
country) and confirm the value is really there before moving on.
2. **Check that your zip/postal code format matches the selected
country.** The zip/postal field expects a different format depending
on which country is selected in the Country dropdown (for example, a
numeric US zip code vs. a letter-and-number postal code for other
countries). If you changed the Country dropdown after already typing
a zip/postal code, re-enter the zip/postal code so it matches the
   currently-selected country.
3. **Make sure State/Province is set** if your country is the United
States -- this field is required for US addresses specifically.
4. **If the error persists** after confirming all billing fields are
filled in and correctly formatted, try the same donation/add-card
flow in an incognito/private window or a different browser. This
rules out a stuck browser-side form state as the cause.
