# Checkout Footer — What You Can and Cannot Customize

> The checkout footer always displays on every checkout. You can add custom footer text, custom legal links, and your organization's contact info, but you cannot hide or remove the footer itself.

The checkout footer appears at the bottom of every checkout form. It shows your organization's name and address, donor support contact information (when configured), legal links, and any custom footer text you have added. The footer is a permanent part of the checkout — it cannot be hidden, disabled, or removed.

## What you can customize

* **Custom footer text** — In the checkout settings under *Custom Footer*, you can add free-form text or HTML that appears below the standard footer content. This is set per checkout, so different checkouts can show different messages.
* **Custom terms and privacy links** — Under *Donor Portal Settings*, you can add your organization's own Terms and Privacy Policy URLs. These appear as additional links alongside the standard WeGive legal links.
* **Organization address and contact info** — The footer automatically shows your organization's name, address, and support contact details (email and phone) from your *Org Info* settings. Update those to change what the footer displays.

## What you cannot change

* **The footer itself cannot be hidden or disabled.** There is no setting, toggle, or configuration option to remove the footer from any checkout, including embedded checkouts.
* **WeGive's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use links always appear** and cannot be removed. Your custom legal links appear alongside them, not in place of them.
* **The organization address is shared across all checkouts.** There is no way to show a different address on different checkouts — changing the address in Org Info changes it everywhere.

<Note>
  If you are embedding a checkout on your website and want a minimal appearance, note that while the navigation bar can be toggled off (using the *Enable Nav* setting), the footer does not have an equivalent toggle. The footer will always display on embedded checkouts.
