# How to Find Messages Removed from a Journey

# How to Find Messages Removed from a Journey

When you edit a journey and remove a step, the message attached to that
step is not permanently deleted. It becomes **Archived** — all of its
historical performance data (sent, delivered, opened, clicked) is
preserved, and you can still access it.

## Using the View filter on the Messages page

By default, the Messages table shows only active messages. Archived
messages are hidden until you change the View filter.

1. Go to **Communications > Messages**.
2. Click the **View** filter (the eye icon).
3. Select **All** to see both active and archived messages together, or
select **Archived** to see only archived messages.

Archived messages display with an **Archived** status badge so you can
distinguish them from active ones.

To return to the default view, switch the View filter back to
**Active**.

## Using a direct URL

If you have the message's ID or a bookmarked link, you can navigate
directly to the message detail page in your current dashboard:
Archived messages load normally at this URL — you do not need to
change any filter settings to view them this way. **A link from the
previous (legacy) dashboard will not work** — that dashboard is no
longer supported; use the current dashboard link format above instead.

## Why messages are archived instead of deleted

Archiving preserves the message's complete performance history. Even
after a step is removed from a journey, you can still review how many
people received the message, opened it, clicked through, and more. This
data remains available for reporting and analysis.
