# Understanding Fundraiser Statuses (Draft, Pending, Live, Ended, Archived)

> What each fundraiser status means in WeGive, how a status is determined from the start date, end date and archive state, why a newly created peer-to-peer fundraiser can briefly show Pending, and whether donations are accepted in each status.

# Understanding Fundraiser Statuses

Every fundraiser in WeGive shows a status: **Draft**, **Pending**, **Live**,
**Ended**, or **Archived**. You'll see it as a badge on the fundraiser in your
dashboard. The status isn't something you set directly. WeGive works it out
automatically from the fundraiser's start date, end date, and whether it has
been archived, so it updates on its own as dates pass.

## What each status means

| Status | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Draft** | The fundraiser has no start date. |
| **Pending** | The start date is in the future. The fundraiser hasn't started yet. |
| **Live** | The start date has passed, and there is either no end date or the end date hasn't passed yet. |
| **Ended** | The end date has passed. |
| **Archived** | The fundraiser has been archived (deleted). This takes priority over every other status. |

## Can donors give in each status?

* **Draft, Pending and Live:** Yes. Donations are not blocked. A fundraiser
showing **Pending** can still receive donations.
* **Ended:** Only if the fundraiser's **Allow donations after end date** setting is
turned on. Otherwise donations are declined.
* **Archived:** No. Archived fundraisers don't accept donations.

## Why a new peer-to-peer fundraiser can show Pending

When someone creates a peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraiser from your donor portal, the
**Start Date** field is filled in for them automatically:

* If your P2P preset has a start date, the new fundraiser starts with that date.
* Otherwise, it starts with the current time rounded to the **nearest half
  hour**.

Rounding to the nearest half hour sometimes rounds forward, so a brand-new
fundraiser can have a start time up to about 15 minutes in the future. Until that
time arrives, the status reads **Pending**. It then changes to **Live** on its
own. You don't need to edit or re-save anything.

If a P2P fundraiser still shows **Pending** well after it was created, its start
date is genuinely set in the future. Either the fundraiser's creator picked a
later date, or the preset you're using has a future start date, which every new
fundraiser created from that preset will inherit. Edit the fundraiser's start
date to make it go live sooner.

## How to check or change the dates

1. In the dashboard, go to **Fundraisers** and open the fundraiser.
2. Check the **Status** shown on the fundraiser's summary, along with its start
   and end dates.
3. To change the dates, edit the fundraiser and update **Start Date** and
(optionally) the end date. If you use a P2P preset, the preset can lock the
start date so supporters can't change it.
