Bloomerang CRM Overview

Bloomerang is a comprehensive donor management platform that helps nonprofits build stronger relationships with their supporters. The WeGive integration provides seamless bidirectional synchronization between your WeGive donation platform and Bloomerang CRM.

Key Features

  • Constituent Management: Complete donor and organization profiles with detailed contact information
  • Transaction Tracking: Comprehensive donation and payment processing
  • Fund Management: Organized giving categories and designation tracking
  • Communication Tools: Integrated email and communication tracking
  • Reporting & Analytics: Advanced reporting on donor engagement and giving patterns

Integration with WeGive

The WeGive Bloomerang integration provides:
  • Bidirectional Data Sync: Donors, transactions, and funds sync in both directions
  • Automatic Donor Management: Seamless donor profile creation and updates, including email, phone, and mailing address
  • Transaction Processing: Automated donation tracking
  • Fund Synchronization: Consistent fund structures across platforms
  • Comprehensive Logging: Every push/pull payload is logged for auditing and troubleshooting

Getting Started

To begin using the WeGive Bloomerang Integration:
  1. Review the Setup Requirements
  2. Configure your Integration Settings
  3. Review the Data Mapping documentation

Core Objects

The following Bloomerang objects are central to the WeGive integration:
  • Constituent: Individual and organization donor records
  • Transaction: Donation and payment records
  • Fund: Giving categories and designations
Campaigns are not currently synced to Bloomerang — that integration path exists in the codebase but is disabled. Address, phone, and email are real fields sent as part of a Constituent’s payload, not separately-synced objects.

Integration Architecture

The integration utilizes:
  • Bloomerang API v2: RESTful API for all data operations
  • Scheduled Pull + On-Demand Push: Transactions/donors/funds push as they’re created; a scheduled job pulls changes from Bloomerang
  • Error Recovery: Automatic retry logic (3 attempts, exponential backoff) with built-in handling for Bloomerang’s rate-limit responses
There’s no webhook or real-time push mechanism for this integration — “real-time” sync happens because WeGive pushes a donor/transaction/fund immediately when it’s created or changed on the WeGive side, not because Bloomerang notifies WeGive of anything.

Best Practices

When working with the Bloomerang integration:
  • Data Quality: Maintain clean, consistent data across both platforms
  • Regular Monitoring: Review integration logs for any sync issues
  • Test Thoroughly: Always test configuration changes with a small batch first
